Our Experience

Before becoming a practicing lawyer, Gaylon James Nettles worked as counselor and social worker for over 35 years. He retired from the military after 21 years where he had over 15 years experience working as a counselor and administrator of substance abuse programs and mental health programs. In addition to his law degree, he has a Master of Science degree in counseling and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. In 1998, he passed the bar and started his private practice in January 2009 after over 19 years with the Indiana Department of Education. As a business owner for over 10 years Mr. Nettles also has practical and hands on experience in small business matters.

Our Approach

We understand that access to education and educational opportunities is critical to the growth and development of minors. We also recognize the importance of the confidentiality of information regarding physical or mental health treatment, substance abuse counseling, and educational needs. Though we aggressively protect your rights in all interactions with adversaries or opposing counsel, we work hard to provide caring and compassionate counsel when working directly with you.

Our Practice

We provide comprehensive representation in matters involving:

  • education law. We advise children and parents in matters involving access to education, from issues involving special education needs to denial of the right to attend school or denial of access to education opportunities because of physical or mental health concerns.
  • legal matters related to social services. We represent individuals who have legal and social issues as consumers, parents, educators, business owners and children. Our staff assesses not only the legal needs of our clients but the impact of their problems on their lives in school, home and community.
  • school administration issues. We counsel school administrators and personnel in privacy and access matters, including compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

For a free initial consultation, contact us or call us at 317-897-9219 (toll-free at 877-897-9219) to schedule an appointment. We will travel to your home to meet with you, if necessary.
